So yesterday, I took my daughter berry picking with her Girl Scout troop to Thunderbird Berry Farm. It was a lot of fun despite having to get up at 6 a.m. to be there at 7 a.m. It was nice and peaceful and the 4 troop members that showed up were delighted along with a few estatic siblings.
It was a cool morning for July, low 70s. Perfect berry picking weather or running weather for that matter! I was excited because I didn’t get to go last year when they went, I had just had Taylor my son. My daughter was in a joyous mood and excited Mommy got to go. (They were thinking about a weekday morning originally when I had to work).
In all, her and I picked ~5 lbs of blueberries together. The strawberries had already been picked back in May and they said the blackberries and raspberries were “slim pickin’.” Her whole troop, well the four members that were there picked almost 13 pounds all together. Not too shabby for a group of 6-8 year olds.
Once we got home we washed them off and let them sit to dry. I got to sit down at my desk, enjoy my cup of coffee, while my daughter went out and enjoyed the early morning weather. I love sitting in our sunroom, pondering life and watching her play with the dogs. Love her carefree, creative attitude even when sometimes it does get on my nerves.
