ENERGYbits review and GIVEAWAY!!

I am so excited to be doing my first giveaway!  About a month ago, I was contacted by Jonathan, from ENERGYbits via Twitter to see if I would be interested in a sample of ENERGYbits to try out and give one away if I liked it.  I said SURE!  Who wouldn’t want to get to try something out before they bought it to see how it went?  I had been hearing and reading TONS of stuff about ENERGYbits and how great they were.  As a long distance runner, I’m always looking at different types of fuels and energy supplements, so this was right up my alley!  I had done plenty of research on ENERGYbits as well to know that they were all-natural and have the highest concentration of protein in the world.

For those of you unfamiliar with what ENERGYbits are, here is a brief description from the ENERGYbits website.

ENERGYbits are made from 100% organically grown Spirulina algae.  It is used by many Olympic athletes for decades.  It suppose to help boost your performance as well as increase endurance.  Here is the nutritional data on them:

Here is how they compare to other fuels and supplements:

I figured on my long runs, depending on the length, I have to use at least one serving of fuel for anything over 7 miles, I would give ENERGYbits a try.  The sample I got contained 60 bits.

Upon reading the instructions a single serving is 30 bits.  So this is what I did LAST weekend.  I only had 5 miles scheduled, but I figured I would make it on the hilliest portion of my various routes.

So I ate my normal breakfast before my long runs, downed my 30 bits with water and got ready to head out.  (You are supposed to take them about 15-20 minutes prior to your run like most other fuels.)  It was an overcast day and kind of cool.  Honestly I was not in the mood to run, but I got out there anyway.  Physically I felt ready, but mentally with the weather the way it had been, I did not want to be out there.  I trudged up and down all the hills and finished my run.  Physically I felt fine, but mentally I was glad to be done!  To base my opinion off of this run, I could not adequately write a review.  I knew I had another serving left, so I wanted to give it another go, as honestly, I felt like the first use was my mental state throughout the whole run.

So today, I was supposed to meet up with my friend Jennifer and go for our long run together.  I ate my normal breakfast and waited for her text.  Close to around lunch time she texted and said she was ready.  I decided to not eat anything for lunch, took my bits with water then got ready.  Jennifer was scheduled for 5 miles and I 8 miles.  We set out on a beautiful, sunny day, that for January was amazing.  68 degrees in the middle of winter for Oklahoma, heck yeah, I will take it!  We will ignore the fact that the wind was blowing 20-30 mph with wind gusts up to 40 mph!  So we set out and Jennifer knew our discrepancies in our training today even though we both are training for half marathons.  I told her I had run 5 miles yesterday so I figured I would play it by ear after we did her 5 miles and see how I felt.  Our first 2.5 miles we were running into the strong head wind but it went by fairly quickly as they always do when you have a running partner, as did the final 2.5 miles of our journey together.  Once we returned back to our starting point, Jennifer and I said our good byes and I decided to continue on as I was felling pretty darn good!  The only thing I had brought with me for my scheduled 8 miles was my water.  I sipped it off and on throughout the remainder of my 8 miles.  My last 1.5 miles was again heading back into the strong headwind, but again it was still fairly easy.  I managed to complete my 8 miles and drive home.  Once home after a long run, I normally like to lay down on the couch after getting a shake and some more water to rest.  However once I got home, I drank my shake and water, changed clothes and went outside to play with my kids.  I STILL had energy to enjoy the beautiful day with my family!

I think today was a MUCH better day to adequately write my review.  ENERGYbits is definitely something that I will be getting more of!

So with that being said, let’s get to the FUN part…the GIVEAWAY!!!
