Have you ever gotten up to exercise early in the morning and just can’t seem to get that little boost in you to get out the door? You drink a little coffee to get the blood rushing and nothing? Well have you ever tried a pre workout drink or supplement?
I typically like to stick with what I have tried and like. I’m afraid to venture out and try new things especially supplements knowing my past heart issues (I’ve had Supraventricular Tachycardia in which I had a catheter ablation on back in 2007) and my sensitive stomach.
Well in my ambassadorship with Fit Approach and Sweat Pink, I was able to get the opportunity to try out Vega Sport Pre Workout Energizer in the Acai Berry. This was in part of their FuelYourBetter campaign. It is something that they set up to help athletes reach their goals, to push them past those road blocks and keep achieving their goals.
I was extremely excited when my package arrived in the mail, however despite all the things going on with work and in my family life it was a few weeks before I was actually able to try it out.
So my first day I got to use my Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer I decided to give it a go as a pick me up in the afternoon before a long run was due. Well I got my package out and mixed it with 8 oz of water like it instructed. My first thought after looking at it as it didn’t mix well with the water by spoon was “this is going to be disgusting.” I took a swig. It was grainy and gritty. I couldn’t do it. I got out my Ninja blender and put it in there and blended it up. It was better texture wise, but I just couldn’t get over the flavor. I managed to get it down so that I could fully review it adequately. My husband laughed at all of my faces that I made. After I got it down, I changed to get ready to go out and run. Well the Mom in me kicked in and I got sidetracked by my kids and what needed to be done around the house and let’s just say the running never happened that day.
So a few more days went by and I started rethinking this whole FuelYourBetter campaign and thinking I should give it another try. So I decided to get up early one more as this isn’t something that I normally do to go run. In those few days, I had done my research on the product and came up with some other things to try to make it more manageable. So I got up that morning, rolled out of bed and quickly got dressed as I had laid out all my stuff the night before as to try to not wake my husband up. After I dressed I headed into the kitchen, got the glass out of the cupboard and poured the mix into the glass first thing. Then I poured in about 6-8 oz of orange juice and mixed it with a spoon. It was still somewhat gritty (I didn’t want to turn the Ninja on in afraid of waking the rest of the family up), but the taste was MUCH better. I kept having to stir it up after every swig to keep it up off the bottom of the class, but the taste was actually good this time. I think the mixture of the Acai Berry flavor and the OJ, they complimented each other well!
So after I downed my glass, I headed out the door and started out on my run. I had 6 miles planned for the day and I still felt half awake. The package said to drink 20 minutes prior to exercise, but I knew if I waited 20 minutes that early in the morning, then the run wouldn’t happen. So I started out on my run and about 10-15 minutes later, I felt the energy release and my tiredness immediately went away. Do you ever remember seeing The Hulk when you were a kid? When he would change, he would rip his clothes off and the muscles would ripple out? Well that’s how it hit me except I felt it in runner form. I was able to complete my 6 miles and felt amazing. I subsequently started getting up every morning early and started drinking my Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer every morning before my run. For me, it made running even more addicting. (This is dangerous territory for me! HA!)
If you are in the market for a new Pre-Workout supplement, I would highly suggest Vega Sports Pre-Workout Energizer. Yes it took sometime finding a way for me to make it to accommodate my taste buds, but I’m glad I researched it and came up with some solutions.
